Meet Ms. Carolyn Walcott
Ms. Walcott serves as Media and Communication Specialist for The Language Institute Inc (TLI).
A Lecturer at the University of Guyana Centre for Communication Studies since September 2007, Ms. Walcott has distinguished herself as a trained Radio-Television documentarian and magazine producer having started her journalism career 17 years ago. Prior to joining academe, she has worked extensively in the national state media and regional-international media contexts where her independent contributions have included radio-television documentaries, research and writing for regional-international magazines.
Her consultancies over the years have included media and communication training services for private and public sector organizations, media and public relations strategies, products for local and regional-international organizations, and audio-visual productions for regional and international organizations.
Ms. Walcott believes that her role as a media and communications trainer and coordinator nationally has allowed her to impact practicing and aspiring journalists and media workers, as well as those who interact with the public to function both nationally and internationally with excellence and professionalism. Although in its embryonic stages, she considers her association with Bakke Graduate University a privilege and an opportunity to extend her calling in the field journalism and mass communication.
Ms. Walcott holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Studies with a concentration in Communication and Development from Ohio University, Athens Ohio, USA; a Post Graduate Diploma in International Studies from the University of Guyana and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from the University of Guyana. She also holds a Christian Workers Diploma in Advanced Christian Education from the Assemblies of God Bible Institute, Guyana.
Apart from teaching, Ms. Walcott enjoys theatre arts and is a member of The Theatre Guild Guyana. She is also a member in good standing of the Central Assembly of God Church, 330 Church and East Streets, Georgetown, where she serves in the Worship ministry as team leader and a member of the Communications Department.
Ms. Walcott is married with two children.
