Meet Ms. Joanna Trim
Ms. Trim serves as the Training/Academic Coordinator for The Language Institute (TLI)
Ms. Trim attended the university of Guyana where she pursued studies in English Education, International Studies, Law and History. She received awards from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music with Distinction and was also a recipient of the Ann Blue Scholarship Award for being The Best Graduating All-round student.
During her career, Ms. Trim has served as a Primary and High School Teacher specializing in Language Arts in Guyana and The Bahamas. She now specializes in ESL, English as a Second Language. In this regard, she has successfully prepared students in both Guyana and The Bahamas for international exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, SATS and IGCSE. Hence, during the past five years she has acquired significant experience in using a variety of international language syllabi and strategies for teaching English.
Ms. Trim served organizations and offices as a Spokesperson for CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME), represented Guyana in the Workshop Jamaica 2006; served as Assistant Secretary/Treasurer of The Bishops’ High School, Old Students Association (BHOSA); and was a member of the Publications Committee / Editorial Team for the University of Guyana Law Society Yearbook/Journal 2003-2004.
She served several faith-based and community organizations including Sunday School Teacher /Youth leader for the South Road Full Gospel Assembly Children’s Department; coordinator of fund-raising for South Vigilance Women’s Development Group; Faculty Advisor for the Jordan Prince Williams High School Key Club, and was the Vice President then President of Education for the Evangelistic Temple Communicators Toastmasters Club 1050379, Bahamas Division I.
Ms. Trim’s hobbies are reading, singing, dancing, working with children for their social/academic development, engaging in discussions of contemporary international issues and disputes, and world politics.
