The Institute Attends Roraima Business Expo 2010

Language Institute representatives, Cecily Bernard and Frederick Collins attended the biennial Business Expo promoted by Sebrae (Brazilian Micro and Small Business Support Service) held in Boa Vista, Roraima from 10 to 15 November last. Brazilians from states throughout Brazil and visitors from neighbouring countries, Guyana and Venezuela, gathered in the capital city of Roraima State to participate in what was acclaimed the largest Business Fair promoted by Sebrae in the state of Roraima.

Apart from booths, which showcased the many areas of business activity in which the state of Roraima is involved, the fair also included a daily series of lectures on various themes pertaining to business with particular emphasis on innovation and technology; a section for the promotion of young entrepreneurs and their products and services; a children's games section, which awakened an entrepreneurial appetite in the very young and a mentoring centre for current businesses, from which information could be had regarding possibilities for access to financing.

Among those present were the Guyana Ambassador to Brazil, H.E. Harry Narine Nawbatt, the recently appointed General Consul in Boa Vista, Mrs. Leila King; a Guyana private sector delegation of over 90 strong headed by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Go-Invest, Mr. Geoffrey DaSilva, which included the Executive Director of the Private Sector Commission (PSC), Mr. Roubinder Rambarran, the President of the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA), Mr. Clinton Williams, representatives of the Chambers of Commerce of Upper and Central Corentyne, Linden and Rupununi and a group of University of Guyana (UG) students.

Cecily and Frederick were excited to be a part of this event, which they both found useful and resourceful. The Institute was again pleased to have had the opportunity to network in the region and to share its expertise and inform on its services as it steps up its efforts to accomplish its mission of  bridging the communication divide between Guyana and South America.
